Why is QUALITY important?
In this application the capacitors are used similar to "batteries".
This is why conventional dielectric capacitors can't do the job.
Low quality capacitors have higher inner
resistance
- creating heat - degrading the functionality. And will fail prematurely.

Is your unit flashing Red and Yellow or the red light staying on?
Is the keypad not working anymore?
Is the Liftmaster MyQ app not responding anymore to your opener?

Then there is a high probability that the capacitors (not standard!!) need to be replaced.
Carefully disassemble the opener and inspect the capacitors for any discoloration, swelling or leak.
At times the connections on the board next to the capacitors are damaged and need to be repaired with solder and a jumper.
This repair kit will, with high probability, bring your 888LM back to working condition.
This kit REQUIRES some soldering to repair your control panel.
Kit consists of 2 exact high-quality replacement Super (aka Ultra) Capacitors. "Normal" dielectric capacitors can NOT be used, they don't provide enough current.  The kit will be shipped USPS.
Please note - we can NOT guarantee that you will be able to repair the unit. BUT, with reasonable soldering skills, and careful handling of the board the chance is +95% that you can fix the issue.
If in doubt, look closely on the pictures posted here, and you decide.
The 888LM has a 2 sided circuit board and it is easy to ruin the traces and difficult to remove old components without basic understanding and soldering skills.
TIP!: You can remove old solder by putting a clean multithread copper wire on the solder joint, and heat it with the soldering tip/iron.
NOTE!!! Inspect all your solder work carefully when done. Remember - these capacitors are polarity sensitive (make sure the "minus and plus legs" are correctly positioned - refer to above pictures!!!)
After successful repair, reinstall the 888LM opener. Please note, 1st time the repaired unit is connected red/yellow WILL FLASH for 5 minutes (charging time for the new capacitors). When light is solid, you are good to go!
Make sure to MARK YOUR WIRES when you disconnect - they MUST be connected back correctly.
Note: You may have to reconnect/relearn your Internet hub/App after the repair.
